Antenna Products Corporation (APC) is your one stop shop for Remote Receive/Transmit (RTR) and Remote Communications Air/Ground (RCAG) Towers as well as many of the items that can be found on them. With over 50 years of experience designing and building mission critical steel structures, APC’s towers are utilized worldwide in some of the most extreme environments imaginable. APC is a leading provider of RTR and RCAG Towers across the United States.
Next Generation RCAG Towers
In addition to its traditional RTR Towers, APC has recently introduced and begun shipments to the FAA of its Remote Communications Air/Ground (RCAG) Towers. The RCAG Towers have been specifically designed for the next generation requirements of the FAA for RTR Towers. The RCAG Tower is distinguished from traditional RTR Towers by its much larger tower base with faces as wide as 20 feet compared to the typical RTR Tower face of 4-8 feet. Having a much larger base the RCAG Tower can support much larger platforms as well with current platforms as large as 24X24 feet and larger versions possible based on requirements. The most important feature of the RCAG Tower is the integration of staircases with the towers to replace the ladders and harness climbing systems found on traditional RTR Towers. Greatly increasing safety and ease of access the staircases are a complete game changer for the installation and maintenance of the equipment mounted on the platform of the RTR Tower. RCAG Towers deliver significant advantages over traditional RTRs including:
- Real world, long-term proven reliability
- Superior design and performance optimization
- All steel structures with galvanization to maximize corrosions resistance
- Towers can be provided unpainted, painted to specification and even with powder coating over galvanize for the greatest corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments
- Hundreds of APC RTR Towers currently in use in the National Air Space (NAS)
Advantages of APC’s RCAG Towers include:
Safety
By providing integrated cases, all access to the top platform is provided by merely walking up several flights of stairs. Stair access is greatly superior to the climbing ladders on current RTR Towers in that it is significantly safer, does not required the use of fall arrestor protection (climbing harness) and certified climbers and allows for easier and more regular maintenance and inspection.
Cost
Since the RCAG Towers have much larger platforms than traditional RTR Towers, each RCAG Tower can support a significantly larger number of communications antennas so the number of RCAG Towers required at a facility can be significantly less than traditional RTR Towers.
Ease of Use
Being able to check on the status of tower top equipment just by walking up a few flights of stairs dramatically reduces the physical burden and total costs of ownership as compared to a RTR Tower that is only accessible by utilizing a ladder, climbing system and certified climbers.
RTR Tower Equipment
The purpose of an RTR Tower is to support the transmission equipment used for the operations of the airport and most importantly, to provide communications with the air traffic in the area. APC has a long history of providing mission critical UHF/VHF antennas to the FAA, airports and every branch of the U.S. Military. APC’s DPV line of omni-directional UHF/VHF antennas are the preferred solution for the FAA under multiple long term contracts that have been renewed and extended multiple times. APC has supplied tens of thousands of out DPV antennas to the FAA spanning decades. In addition, to the antennas, APC can provide the whole suite of products for a complete RTR Tower system including:
- Obstructions lights
- Airstrikes
- Coax cabling including custom cable assemblies
- Grounding kits
- Surge suppression
