The DPV-46 consists of three vertically polarized, omnidirectional dipole antennas mounted coaxially. The upper dipole operates over the frequency band of 100 to 156 MHz and the two lower dipoles operate over the frequency band of 225 to 400 MHz. Each dipole operates independently and had a separate input connector. The antennas are normally used on line-of-sight propagation paths such as ground-to-air and point-to-point communication circuits.
The antenna is sealed in a fiberglass radome that provides mechanical stability and environmental protection of the electrical components. It is provided with a coaxial mounting arrangement for mounting a 2-1/2” IPS pipe, enclosing the electrical connections away from the environment.
