Antenna Products Corporation announces commercial shipments of Phazar © Line Of Low Pim Outdoor Omni-Directional Antennas including Several Mimo Versions

Mineral Wells, Texas – September 3, 2014

Antenna Products Corp., a leading developer and manufacturer of high quality antenna systems for military, aviation, electronic toll and communication applications, announces that it is actively shipping commercial quantities of its Phazar© brand low PIM (Passive Inter-Modulation) antennas for use in Small Cell/DAS (Distributed Antenna System) applications. These antennas are manufactured in Antenna Products Corp.’s 100,000 square foot plant in Mineral Wells, Texas.

PIM occurs when two or more signals are transmitted in close proximity to each other and mix to generate combined signals, the harmonics of which, create in-band interference.   Since antennas represent the networks interface with the uncontrolled environment (air), low PIM antennas are vital for optimal performance of cellular networks.  Excessive PIM in a cellular network drains its spectral capacity for productive applications like voice, data, video and social networking applications resulting in slower upload and download speeds, increased dropped calls and degraded customer experience.  Phazar’s © line of outdoor omni antennas all exceed the system level PIM ratings that are required for the best 4G performance.

A variety of omni-directional antennas were developed to simultaneously operate from 698 to 896 MHz and 1710 to 2155 MHz and offer coverage in the 700 MHz, 850 MHz, AWS and PCS bands. These antennas are offered in single, dual, triple and quad antenna configurations to offer multiple carrier shared services or MIMO performance in the 700 MHz and / or AWS frequency bands. Tri-Sector and Quasi-omni antennas have also been developed for 698 to 960 MHz and 1710 to 2170 MHz for additional MIMO options. The Quasi-omni antenna provides the best quasi-omni patterns in the industry and utilizes internal splitters to enhance the PIM performance. All of the above antenna designs utilize DIN 7/16 connectors and the PIM rated PCB designs to achieve the PIM ratings.

“With over 7,000 Small Cell/DAS antennas already deployed worldwide, the Phazar© brand is well known to the major carriers, neutral hosts and infrastructure operators,” states Steve Schueler, Vice President of Sales for Phazar , who continues ,”It has been a huge effort to evolve our industry leading omni-directional Small Cell/DAS antennas to low PIM performance while also often adding MIMO at the same time.  We now believe that we have the most complete suite of low PIM omnis in the world covering most of the important FDD and TDD LTE bands with multiple combinations of two, three or four antennas in a single radome.  We listen closely to the needs of our customers and will continue to roll out additional exciting new product designs this year.”
